Standing Firm as Kingdom Men

Theme Scripture:“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13

A Kingdom Man is not simply a man who attends church or calls himself a Christian. He is a man who stands for Christ, stands in truth, stands for his family, and stands firm when pressure comes.

 

What does it mean to stand?

To take your position—to decide what you believe, what you will live by, and whom you will follow.

A Kingdom Man says, “I belong to Christ, and I will live according to His Word.”

What does it mean to stand firm?

To remain in that position despite pressure, temptation, opposition, fear, disappointment, or difficulties. It is refusing to be moved when things become difficult.

ILLUSTRATIONS:

 🌳1 The tree in the storm

Imagine a large tree during a violent storm. The wind pushes it from one side to another, but its roots hold it firmly in the ground.

The tree may bend, lose branches, and be shaken—but it doesn't fall.

 Standing firm doesn't mean you won't be shaken. It means your roots are deep enough in Christ that you don't fall when the storm comes.

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water…” — Psalm 1:3

 

💰 2 The envelope of money

Imagine a Kingdom Man at work who discovers that someone has mistakenly given him 500,000 FCFA more than he is entitled to. Or that you have gone hungry for 3 days and you've been praying for God to do something. On the street that morning you find a missing 10000 Fcfa bill on the ground. Would you take and consume or will you look for the person who dropped the money?

You could easily say:

"This is my lucky day." or "God answered my prayers"

But if you return the money that is when we really know this is a kingdom man.

Why?

Because your character is more valuable than the money.

Standing firm means doing what is right when doing wrong would be profitable.

 

🪨 3 The man who falls but gets back up

Standing firm does not mean that a Kingdom Man never falls.

A Christian man may fail, sin, lose his temper, make a bad financial decision or disappoint his family.

But instead of saying:

"I've failed, so I might as well give up,"

he repents, asks forgiveness, learns from the failure and gets back on his feet.

A fallen soldier who gets back up is still a soldier.

“Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” — Psalm 37:24

 

 

1. Stand firm in your identity

The world constantly tells men what they should become—successful, wealthy, powerful, respected. But our primary identity is found in Christ.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood…” — 1 Peter 2:9

A Kingdom Man does not need the approval of the world to know who he is.

2. Stand firm in your faith

Faith is easy when everything is going well. Standing firm means remaining faithful when prayers seem unanswered, when temptation is strong, and when circumstances are difficult.

Daniel stood firm when Babylon tried to change his convictions.

Joseph stood firm when temptation came privately.

Job stood firm when everything around him collapsed.

The question is not: “Will pressure come?”

 It is: “When pressure comes, will I still stand?”

3. Stand firm against temptation

A Kingdom Man understands that some battles must be won before the temptation becomes an action.

He guards:

•            His eyes

•            His thoughts

•            His relationships

•            His money

•            His sexuality

•            His words

•            His time

“Flee from sexual immorality.” — 1 Corinthians 6:18

Sometimes standing firm means walking away.

4. Stand firm for your family

Kingdom men are spiritual leaders—not dictators.

Joshua declared:

“As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” — Joshua 24:15

Your family should experience Christ through

your character, sacrifice, prayer, forgiveness and example, not merely through your instructions.

Your children should be able to say:

“My father taught me about God by the way he lived.”

5. Stand firm when nobody is watching

Integrity is who you are when there is no audience.

A Kingdom Man does not say:

•            “Nobody will know.”

•            “Everyone is doing it.”

•            “It is only a small compromise.”

He asks:

“Would I still do this if Jesus were physically standing beside me?”

6. Stand firm because the Kingdom is worth it

Our ultimate goal is not simply to become better men. It is to advance God's Kingdom.

Jesus said:

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness…” — Matthew 6:33

So we stand firm in our homes, workplaces, churches, communities and society—not for our own glory, but for the glory of Christ.

A challenge to Kingdom Men

Stand firm when it is difficult.

 Stand firm when nobody applauds.

 Stand firm when temptation comes.

 Stand firm when others compromise.

 Stand firm when you feel alone.

 Stand firm when you fail—and get back up.

 Stand firm because Christ stood for you.

Kingdom Men are men who know where they stand, whom they stand for, and why they must

not move.
